About Me

I’m Laura and I’m from Kent in the South-East of England and I’m currently studying for a BA (Hons) degree in photography with the Open College of the Arts (also known as OCA). This particular website is for Photography 1: Context & Narrative.

I use a Nikon D3400 (with 18-55mm & 55-300mm lenses) or an iPhone XS Max for my photography and I edit either on my iPad Pro or a Macbook Air using Lightroom, although I hope to learn more about Photoshop as I go through the learning process.

I got into photography at a young age and played about a lot with the cheap digital cameras that were available in the mid 2000’s, but when I began my art GCSE back in 2012 (completed in 2015) I began to get really into photography and my love for it has developed ever since. I learnt some more about photography during my A-Level Film Studies Course (my A-levels were completed in 2017) and really wanted to do photography at a higher level, but did not think this was possible as many physical university courses wanted an A-Level in photography, which was unavailable in my school.

I have completed the first unit of this OCA degree and believe that it has already taught me so much. If you’re interested in looking at my first learning log, the link is attached.

I do also do photography in my own time, and have linked to my twitter, facebook, Instagram and photography website.
